National Reference Laboratory for Papillomaviruses
NRL for Papillomaviruses provides clinical diagnosis of anogenital HPV infections based on standard detection of HPV DNA in clinical specimens using commercially available kits. Furthermore, it screens specimens by other PCR methods with subsequent typing by reverse hybridization or sequencing. NRL also tests specimens for the presence of skin and animal papillomaviruses using a method able to detect even distantly related PV isolates.
NRL tests commercial kits for HPV detection, prepares samples for external quality assessment and provides consulting and training services. Research is focused primarily on the study of the potential role of infection with high-risk types of human papillomaviruses in cancer development.
The National Reference Laboratory for Papillomaviruses is part of the Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion - www.uhkt.cz.
